Here’s most of the trash from last week’s flood. Not all. Still got some she’d stuff to dump later.
But damn. Not included is all the drywall ripped out, flooded appliances that are probably dying, or the couches

Yep, looks about right...
Did you neighbors get hit just as badly, or are you more low lying?

Yikes , that’s awful.

Yup, I know exactly what it feels like :(

It could be worse. We have flood insurance, thankfully. Not enough for personal possessions, but the kids didn't need so much damn stuff anyway

We got the brunt of it. We're adjacent to where it passes under a road, and the pipes got blocked.

One month of rain in one hour. Note the chain link fence in the second pic. Creek is about 5 feet below that normally.

Sorry to hear that, it definitely sucks

Dang. Sorry to hear that. Same thing happened to us when someone’s discarded sofa floated downstream and blocked the culvert which drained our neighborhood.
I see from another comment you have flood insurance. That’s good.
Pro tip: tear out the drywall up to 4 feet. It makes it easier to replace with standard sheets turned sideways. Don’t forget the drywall behind your lower cabinets!
If you lived nearby, I’d be happy to come help with the repairs. While we’ve only flooded once, we’ve been on volunteer cleanup and repair crews for multiple floods. It’s something that comes with living in Louisiana.

Crap, I’m sorry.

Thanks, I appreciate that. How's things going for you recently?

Thanks I really appreciate it. And that’s good advice about the drywall, but the pros are handling this one. If it happens again, ill probably do exactly that.
I got lucky in my years in New Orleans. No floods. Graduated 2004, was supposed to stay for grad school but didn't. Friend did, and ended up living with me in Indiana for 3 months post Katrina. You're a good person volunteering like that, this sucks.

Garbage. I hate my life, and nothing gets better.

Even though that’s how you feel you still took a minute to sympathize with me, and that means a lot.
I’m sorry things aren't improving for you. I hope it makes you feel a little bit better to know you have a internet forum full of people you’ve never met who hope things turn around for you. I know that doesn’t appreciably change things, but it’s what I got right now. So pop in around here when you need some cheer.

That’s worse than we got it, but I feel your pain. A crew of men with jackhammers is scheduled to rip up my basement on Monday and install a sump system. We’ve been waiting our turn since May. Could have bought a new car for what this is costing...

Thanks, man. I should really
make another “Post Puffalumps!” post for maximum merry-making.

I lived in Oklahoma for 15 years. It wasn’t until I moved to Baton Rouge that our house was hit by a tornado.
I was super picky when it came to selecting a house in Louisiana. I knew water was going to be an issue. Even so, we were nearly flooded in 2016.
Good for you for supporting your friend in his time of need. We need more people in this world who are willing to lend a hand.

I’m pulling for you Stef!
